Mission and vision

Why BMT exists today, and what it is built to become.

Mission

To make premium, faith-conscious entertainment that reflects Black and Muslim life with the production value it has always deserved.

That means owning what we make rather than renting it, paying creators properly, and holding every commission to the standard of the best television in the world, not the best in our category. Nothing on BMT asks its audience to explain itself.

Vision

To become the definitive media operating system for Black and Muslim audiences worldwide.

One destination for drama, documentary, faith, sport and live culture across four continents. A rights-owned library, a live newsroom and a personalization engine built for two billion Muslims and the four hundred million Black Muslims within them.

Our values

Four commitments that decide what we commission, how we build, and who we hire.

Excellence

Cinema-grade craft is the entry requirement. Our audience has been offered low-budget approximations of itself for decades; BMT answers with colour grading, sound design and writing that stand beside anything on a global platform.

Authenticity

Stories are made by the communities they portray, with faith rendered as ordinary life rather than plot device. Our editorial standards are set with scholars and reviewed quarterly, not improvised in the edit.

Inclusion

Black and Muslim is not one culture but hundreds. From Lagos to Leeds, Nairobi to Dearborn, we commission across languages, madhhabs and traditions, and subtitle everything so no household is left outside the conversation.

Innovation

Low-bitrate delivery for mobile networks, £1.99 pricing that works in every market, and a personalization engine tuned for faith-conscious viewing. We build what the incumbents never had a reason to build.

History and milestones

From a London incorporation to a rights-owning studio operating across four continents.

  1. 2026London

    BMT Media Group founded

Incorporated in the United Kingdom by a team of broadcast commissioners, streaming engineers and media financiers, around a single thesis: the overlap between Black and Muslim audiences is enormous and served by nobody.

  2. 2026United Kingdom & Ireland

    BMT.tv launches at £1.99 a month

The platform goes live with a curated catalogue, offline downloads and family profiles, priced so that a household in Lagos and a household in Leeds pay a price that makes sense where they live.

  3. 2026BMT Studios

    First originals slate greenlit

Brixton Fajr leads a rights-owned commissioning slate spanning drama, documentary and faith programming, produced with creators from the communities on screen.

  4. 2027Global

    100,000 subscribers

The first six figures of members, reached through mosque, campus and creator networks rather than paid mass-market acquisition, with churn declining month on month.

  5. 2027Lagos, Nairobi, Dubai, Atlanta

    Four production hubs open

Local commissioning teams in West Africa, East Africa, the Gulf and North America move BMT from a UK platform with global viewers to a global studio with regional roots.

  6. 2028BMT Pulse

Live news, sport and events go live

A daily newsroom, live fixtures and community event coverage complete the three-arm model, turning BMT from a catalogue into a destination people open every day.
